6-12 Parents:
• GO GREEN!!! To help with the cabin fever and the end of winter (maybe) we had a Fire Drill on Thursday when the weather was in the sixties. After the fire drill we met in front of the school and handed out ice cream treats to the HS and MS student body and staff. We had gluten free and sugar free treats available for everyone who needed those, as well! This idea was conceived by the Building Leadership team as a small "Thank You" for the students’ behavior during the flooding of the HS. The MS was invaded by the HS, the rooms were open, everyone seemed to take it in stride and made the best of the situation. The students were very appreciative, maybe even a little shocked!!! Thanks again to all the staff and students!!
• 8th Grade Science Fair: The 8th grades had their science fair in the Cafeteria and Auditorium Thursday during 1st and 3rd hours. I was unable to make the 1st period fair but was able to go 3rd hour. It was very interesting for all involved. Many hours of work were put into their projects. The HS science students were able to listen to the presentations as well.
• Scheduling Night for the HS students (Current 8-11 graders): We had dates scheduled but we are postponing those dates. We try to have these meeting early in the spring when there are not activities happening every night of the week. We will keep you posted!
• Speech Competition Very Successful: This past month, 9 of our students participated in the District Individual Speech competition. We had 7 students qualify for state competition. Amber McNeil qualified in two events. At state, 6 of those events received a I rating. Amber McNeil received a I on both of her events and was chosen to go to All-State for her Literary Program. She will be performing on Monday, March 22nd at UNI.
• MS Dance tonight from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm put on by the MS Student Council.
Have a great weekend!!! Go Green!
